The Southpaw Platform Swing gives therapists a wide range of tilting movement through control lines attached to its top disc, turning a simple suspended platform into an essential piece of sensory integration equipment. We're proud to offer it at The Sensory Supply, North America's specialist sensory store, where we curate equipment from 30+ trusted therapeutic and educational brands for homes, clinics, and schools across Canada & the US.

Lying on the platform, a child feels the surface drift and tip beneath them. Stand up, and that same tilt becomes a real balance challenge. Because it works in a variety of positions from prone to standing, this therapy swing grows with each client, from young kids exploring movement for the first time to teens and adults building confidence in their bodies.

Key Features of the Southpaw Platform Swing for Vestibular Therapy

Top Disc Control Lines - Control lines attached to the top disc let therapists create a wide range of tilting movements, so vestibular input can be adjusted to suit each client and each session.

Prone to Standing Positioning - The platform can be used in a variety of positions from prone to standing, giving one suspended swing the flexibility to support many different sensory integration activities.

Vinyl Padded or Carpet Surface - Choose between a vinyl padded platform and a carpeted one, so you can pick the surface feel that works best for your clients and your therapy space.

Velcro Attachment System - Both the carpet and the vinyl pad attach to the swing with Velcro, which keeps the surface secure during use and lets you remove it when you need to.

Carpet-to-Vinyl Upgrade Option - If you already own the carpeted version, separately available vinyl pads let you switch surfaces without replacing the whole swing, which extends the life of the equipment you've already invested in.

Southpaw Safety Hardware Pairing - This swing is designed to be used with Southpaw's Safety Rotational Device and a Safety Snap, so your setup follows the manufacturer's required safety configuration from day one.

Made in the USA - Built by Southpaw in the USA, so clinics, schools, and families know exactly where their vestibular equipment comes from.

How Suspended Swings Support Sensory Integration and Balance

Our vestibular system, tucked inside the inner ear, tells us where we are in space and how we're moving. Tilting, rocking, and swinging all feed that system, which is why occupational therapists so often build suspended equipment into a sensory diet. A platform adds something a seated swing can't: because the surface moves beneath the whole body, it invites the postural adjustments and balance reactions that come from staying centred on a shifting base. For people with sensory processing differences, carefully guided movement like this can support calm, focus, and self-regulation. For everyone else, it simply feels great.

A Platform Swing for OT Clinics, Schools & Sensory Rooms Across North America

It's a natural fit for:

Occupational therapy clinics and sensory gyms building out their vestibular equipment

School sensory rooms and inclusive classrooms supporting students of all abilities

Physiotherapists and allied health teams working on balance and postural control

Families creating a dedicated home sensory space with proper suspension hardware

Neurodiverse and neurotypical kids, teens, and adults who love to move

Important note for use:

All Southpaw Swings are highly recommended to be used with a minimum of 1 Southpaw Safety Rotational Device.
