The Power WearHouse ProPower Compression Vest for Kids feels like a well-fitted hug that kids can wear all day, from the classroom to the playground to a therapy session. It gives growing bodies the deep pressure and proprioceptive input their sensory systems are looking for, without drawing attention or restricting movement.
A team of occupational therapists with more than 20 years of combined experience designed this vest. They built it on four guiding principles: Choices, Consequences, Consistency, and Compassion. The result does more than work well. It's a compression vest kids actually want to wear, and we're proud to offer it to families, therapists, and schools across Canada & the US.
Picture a busy school morning. The vest zips on in seconds, and the compression level your OT recommended is already set and waiting. Here's what makes that possible:
Proprioception is the body's sense of its own position and movement. When a child gets consistent, calibrated deep pressure from a chest compression vest like the ProPower, the nervous system receives organized, grounding input that supports focus, calm, and self-regulation throughout the day.
Occupational therapists have long used compression garments as part of sensory diets, which are personalized activity plans that give a child's system the sensory input it's seeking. Because this is a compression vest for the chest and torso with a three-setting color guide, OTs and families can match the prescribed compression level every time it's worn.
Unlike many vests on the market, the ProPower design lets the wearer or caregiver keep, adjust, or check compression without fully removing the vest. That small detail makes a real difference in a classroom or clinic, where every minute of routine counts.
Many families first look for a compression vest to support a child with autism, ADHD, or sensory processing differences, and the ProPower was designed with that support in mind. It's just as welcome for any child who feels more settled with a little steady pressure. It's a great fit for:
Start with both the shoulder and torso straps on the lightest setting (blue stitching). Zip up the vest, then reset the torso and shoulder straps to the recommended compression level. From there, the ProPower Advantage lets the wearer slip the vest on and off over the shoulders at the correct setting using the zipper. Or, release the straps and slip it on and off over the head.
Hand-wash in cold water with a mild detergent and air-dry. Don't dry it in direct sunlight, and don't store it under heavy objects. Store the vest out of the user's reach when they're unsupervised.
