The insert is a narrow acrylic inner tube - a current creator - that fits inside the existing bubble column. The rising air current from the tube's air motor is channelled upward through the centre of the insert, creating a focused current that lifts the beads and balls upward through the middle. When they reach the top, they escape the current and drift down the outer ring of the tube - the gap between the insert and the outer acrylic wall. The result is a continuous, looping dual-flow movement: beads rising through the centre column, beads falling back down the outside.
The coloured LED light from the tube illuminates the beads and balls as they move, so every colour cycle the tube produces is amplified by the moving, light-catching objects inside.
