Lie, Stretch & Restore with the TFH Vibroacoustic Long Easy Floor Lounge – Floor-Level Vibroacoustic Therapy Furniture for Sensory Rooms, Clinics & Home Across North America

Description

There is something particular about lying down to receive therapy. The floor removes hierarchy - there is no right or wrong position, no seat to sit correctly in, no posture to maintain. The TFH Vibroacoustic Long Easy Floor Lounge brings vibroacoustic therapy to that level, delivering low-frequency musical vibrations through a full-length foam lounger that the user lies back into rather than sits up in. Available across North America from The Sensory Supply, it is the floor-level piece in the TFH Somacoustic range - the one that makes full-body horizontal positioning possible.

The Long Easy has a unique reclining shape with a slight head elevation and a cosy rimmed edge that cradles the user securely while keeping them engaged with whatever activity or sensory experience is happening around them. The foam construction - firm enough to support the body, soft enough to sink into - transmits vibroacoustic vibrations through its entire surface when connected to the TFH Vibroacoustic Resonator Unit (Somacoustic Controller, 9RSX, sold separately). Connect a music source via the controller, adjust the bass to suit the individual's sensory preferences, and the lounger becomes a full-body vibration therapy surface. The TFH Resonance Range magnifies musical vibrations so they are felt more easily and heard less clearly - this is not a speaker system and the music will be intentionally muffled.

Key Features of the TFH Vibroacoustic Long Easy Floor Lounge

  • Unique Full-Length Reclining Shape - The long, low profile places the user in a fully supported floor-level position with a slight head elevation, keeping them comfortably engaged while receiving full-body vibroacoustic input along the entire length of the lounger
  • Cosy Rimmed Edge - The raised perimeter edge of the lounger provides a natural body boundary that supports a sense of containment and security, particularly useful for users who benefit from defined positional feedback
  • Foam Construction with Embedded Resonator - Firm, body-supporting foam transmits low-frequency musical vibrations through the entire surface when connected to the Somacoustic Controller, delivering proprioceptive sensory input at a cellular level
  • Fully Adjustable Vibration Intensity - The amount of vibration is completely adjustable through music choice and bass selection via the connected Somacoustic Controller, allowing the session to be precisely calibrated for each individual's sensory needs and therapeutic goals
  • Excellent for Body Awareness & Joint and Muscle Input - Vibroacoustic input delivered through the full-length surface supports body awareness, soothes tense muscles, and allows for stretching and strengthening of joints and muscles - the lying-down position maximises surface contact and therefore vibration distribution
  • Easy-Wipe Vinyl Cover - The vinyl exterior wipes clean easily, meeting hygiene standards required for shared use in clinic, school, and residential settings
  • TFH Somacoustic Compatibility - Requires connection to the TFH Vibroacoustic Resonator Unit (9RSX, sold separately); warranty is void if an incorrect amplifier is used

Why Floor-Level Positioning Matters in Vibroacoustic Therapy

OTs and sensory integration practitioners know that positioning is part of the therapy. Floor-level work removes the vestibular demands of maintaining an upright seated posture, allowing the nervous system to settle and focus on the proprioceptive input being provided. For individuals who are hypersensitive to movement, fatigued, or who simply regulate better in a low, horizontal position, the Long Easy Floor Lounge offers a therapeutic modality that the seated pieces in the range cannot replicate.

The full-length surface also means vibration distributes across the entire body simultaneously - legs, torso, and upper body all receive the same low-frequency input at once. Combined with the adjustability of the vibration intensity through music and bass selection, this makes the Long Easy one of the most therapeutically flexible pieces in the TFH Somacoustic range.

The Vibroacoustic Evidence Base

Vibroacoustic therapy was developed in Norway by Olav Skille in the 1980s and involves passing pure low-frequency sine wave vibrations into the body through embedded speakers in therapeutic furniture. The Food and Drug Administration has approved vibroacoustic therapy for increasing circulation, pain relief, and improving mobility. Research from the University of Toronto and ongoing clinical evaluation addresses applications including fibromyalgia, cerebral palsy, and Alzheimer's disease. Vibration intensity is controlled entirely through music choice and bass selection - and note that because the primary purpose is vibration rather than sound reproduction, music will be muffled during use.

Ideal For

  • Occupational therapists and allied health professionals seeking a floor-level vibroacoustic therapy option for clinic or sensory room settings
  • Schools and early years settings where floor-based therapeutic positioning is preferred or required
  • Hospitals, residential facilities, and palliative care environments where lying-down vibroacoustic therapy is clinically appropriate
  • Families creating a home sensory space where full-body, floor-level vibroacoustic input is part of a sensory diet
  • Sensory rooms where a horizontal complement to seated vibroacoustic furniture rounds out the therapeutic offering
