The Experia Superactive Sensory Room is a complete, off-the-shelf interactive multi-sensory room package that gives users direct, hands-on control over their sensory environment - available across North America from The Sensory Supply. Everything needed to build a fully functioning, user-controlled sensory space is included in one bundle: ten integrated components covering visual stimulation, tactile exploration, light projection, colour control, and seating, made in the USA by Experia USA.
This is not a passive sensory room that simply plays light and sound. Every Superactive component responds to a wireless 8-button colour controller, allowing the user to change the colour of the bubble tube, the fibre optics, the LED strips, and the infinity tunnel independently or simultaneously from anywhere in the room, up to 90 feet away. The controller uses Qi wireless charging - set it on the charging pad and it charges inductively, no cables needed. For settings that want even more control flexibility, the Superactive range is also compatible with the Maze Controller (sold separately).
This is the mid-point in the Experia room range. It offers more interactive equipment and a richer multi-sensory environment than the Calming Room, but uses the simpler Superactive wireless controller system rather than the full IRiS Talker/Listener ecosystem. For many schools, clinics, and care settings, this is exactly the right level - substantial interactive capability without the complexity of configuring multiple wireless controllers.
All components operate on low voltage with included transformers plugging into standard 110v AC outlets. Adult supervision is required. Ages 3 and up.
What the Experia Superactive Sensory Room Includes
Visual and Interactive Equipment
- Superactive LED Bubble Tube 60" with 9-Button Wireless Controller - A 5-foot LED bubble column with adjustable colour and bubble speed, controlled wirelessly from up to 90 feet away. The bubble tube is the anchor of any sensory room - providing the combined visual, auditory, and proprioceptive grounding effect of slowly rising, colour-shifting bubbles in a format the user controls directly.
- Bubble Tube Bracket - Secures the bubble tube stably to the platform for safe, confident engagement during active sensory sessions.
- Curved Bubble Tube Platform - Medium (36" W x 36" L x 16" H) - A padded curved platform that places the user close to the bubble tube at a comfortable height, supporting full-body immersion in the sensory environment.
- Bubble Tube Acrylic Mirrors - 2 x 36" W x 48" H - Positioned either side of the bubble tube, these mirrors multiply the visual effect of the column to create the impression of an extended wall of rising bubbles, deepening the sense of immersion throughout the room.
- Superactive LED Infinity Tunnel with 8-Button Wireless Controller - Projects endlessly receding tunnel light effects onto walls and into the room, creating a visually captivating focal point that changes colour in sync with the user's wireless controller input.
- Interactive LED Fanlite - A touch-sensitive fanlite that responds to user contact with colour changes and light effects, providing a hands-on interactive visual element that develops cause-and-effect understanding and fine motor engagement.
- Aurora LED Projector Bundle - Includes the Aurora LED Projector, wheel rotator, and three effect wheels (Firework Bonanza, Under the Sea, and a blank wheel) for projecting slowly moving light images onto walls and ceilings, adding a calming ambient layer to the interactive environment.
Tactile and Sensory Lighting
- Superactive LED Fibre Optic Bundle with 8-Button Wireless Controller - Includes the Superactive LED lightsource and fibre optic strands; the strands can be placed across a user's lap for close tactile exploration while the 8-button wireless controller allows instant colour changes, combining touch-based sensory input with direct interactive control.
- Superactive LED Fibre Optic Cascade with 8-Button Wireless Controller - A cascading fibre optic display that adds a second, visually distinct fibre optic element to the room, increasing the sensory density of the space and providing an additional independently controllable colour surface.
- Superactive LED Strip and Driver Bundle with 8-Button Wireless Controller - LED lighting strips that flood the room with controllable colour, extending the interactive colour environment beyond the bubble tube and fibre optics to the walls and wider room surfaces.
Seating, Maintenance, and Setup
- Bean Bag Chair - Soft, padded seating for the sensory room that allows users to relax close to the bubble tube and fibre optics during sessions.
- BCB Bubble Tube Additive - Water treatment fluid that prevents bacteria and algae growth in the bubble tube, keeping the water clear and the equipment functioning correctly over time.
- Bubble Tube Pump and Hose - Simplifies the water maintenance process for the bubble tube, making it easy for non-specialist staff to carry out routine cleaning and water changes.
Skills Developed Through the Superactive Sensory Room
- Colour Recognition and Matching - Pressing a colour on the wireless controller and watching the entire room's lighting shift to match creates immediate, reinforced colour learning in a deeply motivating multi-sensory context.
- Cause and Effect - Every button press produces an immediate, visible response across multiple pieces of equipment simultaneously, building one of the most foundational cognitive connections in an environment designed entirely around it.
- Switching Skills and Environmental Control - Operating the wireless controller, the interactive fanlite, and the Maze Controller (sold separately) gives users practice with access technology and independent environmental control - skills that transfer directly to assistive technology use.
- Gross and Fine Motor Skills - Reaching, pressing, holding, and exploring the fanlite, fibre optic strands, and wireless controller all provide purposeful, reinforced motor skill opportunities within the sensory room's motivating context.
- Social Interaction and Theming - The projector's effect wheels and the colour-shifting environment support narrative play, turn-taking, and shared engagement between users, educators, and therapists.
- Colour Recognition, Storytelling, and Visual Tracking - The projector's Under the Sea and Firework Bonanza wheels, combined with the infinity tunnel's shifting light patterns, support visual attention, narrative engagement, and colour discrimination across the room's full visual field.
Understanding the Superactive System - and How It Differs from IRiS
The Superactive system uses a single 8-button wireless colour controller (or 9-button for the bubble tube) to control each compatible piece of equipment. Each controller operates from up to 90 feet away using Qi wireless charging. Unlike the IRiS system - where any Talker can control any Listener in a fully networked wireless ecosystem - the Superactive system is simpler: each controller is paired with its specific piece of equipment.
For most schools, daycare facilities, residential care homes, and therapy clinics building a sensory room for shared use, this is the appropriate level. Users can change colours and interact with the environment directly. Facilitators can set up the room quickly. Staff do not need specialist training to operate the equipment or reconfigure it between users. The Maze Controller (sold separately) adds an additional layer of interactive flexibility for settings that want more control options without stepping up to the full IRiS range.
